John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University in public policy studies, as well as a Master of Science in public health degree in health policy and administration from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his time at UNC, he also completed a certificate program in health disparities, and coursework towards a PhD in health policy and administration with a concentration in health economics. At CHDR, John provides data analysis and statistical programming services for the Neighborhood Atlas and on an ad hoc basis for other Center projects.

John volunteers as a board member for the Westside Community Market in Madison and serves on the Minimal Risk Research IRB at UW-Madison. His past experience includes work in professional services, state government, and non-profit research organizations.
